Name that Magic Mushroom

The rains may have finally stopped, but they left parting gifts that are invading lawns everywhere: mushrooms.

Discovery News’ Editor-In-Chief Lori Cuthbert found these mushrooms growing in her backyard. The diverse and funky looking fungi sprung up in just one week. The mushrooms are “red, green and orange in the shape of frowny faces and smiley faces, some lumpen masses, some perfect half moons, some warty, some smooth.

What’s more, these are magic mushrooms.”

While this slideshow shows a number of mushrooms that are almost entirely in the same species: Fly Amanita, (Amanita muscaria), that second one above (the red one) is still unidentified.

Does anyone out there know what kind of mushroom that is?
