Is it Illegal to Fake Cancer?

"A Colorado mountain community rallied around a dying child with leukemia only to find out the whole thing was a hoax, and the woman who made up the story probably won’t face any charges. So many people fell for the story and tried to help the little boy who didn’t even exist." — CBS News

Though many are outraged by the woman who made up the boy’s story, but the fact is that lying about having a disease isn’t a crime.

She received no monetary benefits, and though people were hurt and betrayed now laws were broken. The Supreme Court actually defends our right to lie! Even about service in the military and medals won!

I agree - It seems to me the fraud laws are sufficient to deal with these people.
