Our Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider just began its latest run, with cutting-edge machinery humming to life and fundamental physics explorations in full effect. The starburst above — which you might recognize from our avatar — represents the distinct particle signatures produced in each collision event, with varying colors and curves for particles of different energies produced in the hearts of our detectors.

As you read this, trillion-degree recreations of the dawn of time are unfolding right out here on Long Island.
